Alectura lathami, Australian Brush-turkey

Alectura lathami Brush-turkeys regularly visit many Sydney gardens. Our local Brush-turkeys help turn the mulch pile over magpie for me by scratching out worms and grubs to eat.

Oblivious to the political connotations of our nomenclature faux pas (and our apologies to a certain US president), we have incorrectly been refering to our visitors as Bush Turkeys... but now we know better.

The resident Magpie family are not at all amused and get very irate at the Brush-turkey's daily intrusions.
